Meet my best friend

I felt like it seemed fitting to write a post today about my best friend Lilly, seeing that she flew in from Christchurch today to stay with me and the good thing is that she never has to go back! I don’t have to say goodbye to her ever again because she’ll be living in Melbourne as right now!

Now Lilly and I have been friends since 2003 and probably best friends as of three weeks into Year 4. From what I can remember we were pretty inseparable. We had our own inside jokes, some of which we still joke about today. We had our own radio show and we made our own juice.  We even made up our own club, well there was probably many but the one that I remember was “The wardrobe club”. I can’t exactly remember what we did in this club but it was cool back then. I remember going for my first sleepover at her house and I was completely in awe of it, it was never like something I’d stepped into before. It was a massive three level unit that had a spa on the top roof. I remember we watched the first Harry Potter, dropped chips of the third story to see how fast they would get to the bottom. It was also the first time that I’d tried marshmallows that had strawberry filling inside of them. I didn’t actually stay the night, I think I got scared or something and dad had to come and pick me up.  It wasn’t long before we literally lived down the road from each other. Which at that age of 10 was bloody awesome.  We had many sleepovers, more inside jokes, midnight snacks, and adventures in Dolly.
It soon came time to say goodbye and Lilly moved to Singapore at the end of 2006. It was weird being at school without her but I soon moved to Melbourne and Lilly visited on a regular basis, but each time was just as hard to say goodbye, always lots of tears. Every day we talk whether its on Facebook, texting or Skype we’re always constantly in contact with each other.
In 2010 for my 16th birthday my mum paid for me to fly over to Christchurch to visit Lilly and that was just amazing. We had “chicken night” which was our code name for having a cheeky drink. We took an hour train ride to Greymouth and of course lots of baking and watching movies.
In 2011, Christchurch was hit by a bunch of horrible earthquakes and Lilly moved to Melbourne and went to my school. Not going to lie this was a pretty weird experience even though it was something we both wanted to happen ever since we both left Queensland.
2012 Lilly flew over in January and also in August and surprised me for my 18th birthday, cheeky little bugger. Anyway enough of these dates and boring stuff, main point is that this chick is my other half, she is my long lost sister. She is the one I turn to when things get tough or when I need a laugh or a long talk about nothing. We’ve had so many wonderful memories these past years and I am so excited for the years and the memories to come in the future. I truly love her with all of my heart and I would be so so lost without her in my life.
